History

Black Gold Rising

It was with the discovery of Black Arabarok and it uses to power the industrialized factory across the land came the rising demand to harvest their valuable resource. A first people just began to wildly into the sea with harpoon launchers hoping to hit a deposit and extract it as it rose from the surface. This did not go well is spills like these killed most of the wildlife in the water and leading to starvation in some areas the local populations were depleted of their main food source. There was also a chance that a flame could come in contact with it as well and since it was highly flammable it could set the area of the sea it spread across on fire and set entire ships ablaze with all hands lost and their cargo as well. It was until the creation of the Sea Mining Guilds there exclusive access to harvesting the resource that things began to become under control and idea began to spread on how to properly harvest it without wasting most of the deposit and ensuring no more large incidents occurred. It was not until the creation of Deep Armor that progress was being made. Along with the need for anyone willing to wear them and journey below the water to extract it. It was here that the first Harvester was formed and began to harvest it more effectively. Though the mortality rate would be high due to the many accidents and mistakes made in the early stages of the armor. Nonetheless, people still kept doing it despite the dangers that came with it.

Improving the Method

After many trials and errors and a whole lot of bodies conditions and equipment began to be improved upon to increase the extraction rate and the survivability of the Harvesters while doing their jobs. Doing so meant that those that survived made more money than most other professions and kept the factories running without any shortages. Some of them being able to retire at an early age and using their money to build their own business or get into another profession much easier. Though the guilds stop this from happening by making them sign contracts to work for them for a certain number of years and if they died their earnings would be taken by them unless they had a next of kin that they were willing to make them the benefactor. Either way with the demand of Black Arabarok so came the demand for harvesters to find deposits and it has been like this ever since.

Deep Armor: An armored suit designed to add them to breathing deep underwater and protect them from injury and harsh conditions. The only problem is it does not hold any in it except for the hose up on the surface that comes through a man-powered air pump.   Light Box: A box containing a Sun Stone to ensure that the harvester has light to see in the darker depths of the sea so they may work properly.   Extraction Pump: A long hose used to extract Black Arabarok with a pump on the surface to be placed in a container for storage.   Compressor tools: A tool used to create a pressurized chamber to be used to hold Black Arabarok deposits from leaking out and extract them easier.   Signal Rope: A rope tied to a bell on the surface is used to give signals to workers standing by to follow their instructions.   Araborok Tracker: A small machine that can track where Black Araborok deposits can be found with the closer they are to a source the more it vibrates.

Provided Services

Harvesters will receive free lodgings and food while in the service of their employers. Often being a company facility where they will live as long they are employed by them.

Dangers & Hazards

There is always a good chance that it might be their last dive every time they go into the water like so many things can go wrong such as a leak in their suit that slowly draws water in for them to drown, their air hose becoming detached or torn for them slowly suffocate. Then there is some of the local aquatic wildlife of the meat-eating variety that would try to have them for their next meal. Worse of all there could be a spillage that could leave them blinded in complete darkness not knowing where they are leading to panic and accidentally damage their suit.
