10 Inspiring and Creative Articles from 2021

You can never determine the value of art for it's all about perspective and emotion. The same can be said about writing, there will always be those who will stick out more than others and stand the test of time for their work live on long after them. But those who are not able to reach that height of popularity will often befall into the cracks and at times their work will not reach heights that will never reach the popularity that they want it to be. That does not however deny them in creating an experience for the people who do manage to take notice of their work. Allowing them to experience what they have written to tell their own story, for everyone one way it another has a story to tell, as stories are all we have long after we are gone, and to deny it is to deny our very being of what it means to be Human. These articles here are some of the work that I have found that have simply captivated me and the tales they had to tell to how many people were willing to read them.

Article Name: Ki

Author: K.S. Bishoff

While I have written my article on Qi and similarities have shown up, this article had stood out as it brings a new layer of worldbuilding to it. The dynamics and conversation between the grandfather and his grandson, along with their conversation and roles of student and teacher create a strong dynamic between the two the very ideas that surround the article. Creating an interesting point of view by mixing storytelling and lore to allow anyone reading to enjoy it.
What I Learned: A good way to create a world is by creating conversations with characters in it often with pictures to identify them. The conversation should be back and forth to better explain something.

Article Name: Thorasite

Author: Jared

This article is quite fascinating in the way it brings lasers into a fantasy setting and it is written authentically on how it builds on how the structure of the material and how it properly works, even creating a scientific stand on why it works that certain way. This can make it believable considering that crystals create lasers in our world as well. Though I would strongly be advised not to use these as they lack the proper control to use them and death is more likely. Making it a fun read especially for those who are crazy about lasers.
What I Learned: In my experience, I have not dabbled much in the way of materials in my writing, but this article has allowed me to see the possibilities to make materials look authentic and have a realistic feel to them to make it look possible in worldbuilding.

Article Name: Skyshell

I find this article on flying jellyfish to be a good old read to those who love to explore alien biology on other planets. Especially when they have a distinct history with the planet they live on and the native inhabitants that live on it. The added detail on how it is a part of a culture's myths is also a splendid idea as animals have always been used to represent certain aspects of life and their meanings. Something that I rarely see in the articles I read on World Anvil. The attention to detail on their biology might as well be something out of an animal biology textbook as it seems genuinely authentic as well and deserves the proper attention by anyone who happens upon it.
What I Learned: While I have done my fair share of creating species, the detail, and history surrounding this one species has driven Me to try and add more detail and a deeper understanding of what animals inhabit my world to explore them to the best of my abilities.

Article Name: Sense Writing for the Blind

Author: Amélie I. S. Debruyne

I find this article most intriguing due to its unique idea of mixing magic with disability aid. This is something that seems possible with the aid of magic considering it can be flexible depending on the laws of one's world. The mixture of its history both past and present along also allows it to see how far it has become despite the limited spread of such a technology. Its use of story also makes it more enthralling as it allows a user to be fixated on this type of tech while others would simply drool on and on about what it does. This is something that readers should experience for themselves to simply understand my meaning.
What I Learned: I have been somewhat limited to what technologies I have writing in my world depending on what levels I want them to be. I can be very logical most of the time to ensure that they do not feel out of place or not make any sense. But seeing this has reminded me that fiction helps us explore the possibilities that can come with technology and I am willing to become more flexible about it now.

Article Name: Pavan Soulknights

Now, this article took me to a morally grey place considering the creation of these knights to becoming tools of war. This is something that can be horrifying to think someone is willing to do for victory in war and the lengths they are willing to go to achieve it. But it is all the more fascinating by the idea of the creation of these so-called mindless killing machines that serve every command of their masters. Along with the downfall of what came with them in doing so makes them all the more compelling to read. Their history and creation are something that should be an interesting read indeed.
What I Learned: I have created extensive military units in my years of writing to make them as authentic as possible for my readers. But I have yet to create something as fantastical as something as this before and I am now willing to dabble more into the fantastical elements now more in my future works.

Article Name: Five Hundred Fun Ways to Die

I find this article quite similar to modern-day entertainment as it has greatly desensitized it used use of violence for entertainment purposes. But never have I thought that I would find this game show that causes purposeful deaths in front of a live audience until I read these articles now. But being able to resurrect those who died and make them do it all over again is something that is most certainly gives me chills just to think about it at all. Especially considering people find a show popular makes it no more surprising as if someone were to go to a gladiator match to see blood spilled. This tradition is something I find people will greatly enjoy due to use bizarre nature of it all that will get those who live for the thrills of danger might want to join if it were possible.
What I Learned This article has brought some new life to the idea of creating traditions that may seem strange, yet similar to things that go on even in our world. Along with being less strict when it comes to the laws of your world to create an enjoyable experience.

Article Name: Asa Thornguil

For every story, there is often a character that stands out amongst those who are cast to play their part in the story. This would be one of them as it breathes life into them to make them look as if they were a real person. Though I wish I was completed as it does not go much into the history of the actual character, it does have a strong detailed connection of the other characters that they interact with them. Leading to the possible creation of something extraordinary in the works when it is finally done and I can wait to see when it is done.
What I Learned: When I write a character I often do a detailed account of the most important aspects of their life and how they came to be. But this character article does something different as it adds distinct descriptions of the character and a detailed description of the relationship that they have with other characters. Though it remains somewhat incomplete, I am sure it will come out well if the writing is kept as it is.

Article Name: Specialists

Author: R. Dylon Elder

I have read many things in my life about the post-apocalyptic worlds, but having it happen in space is something that I never what to be in as there is nothing familiar about it with no traces of home at all. But changing the subject, f anyone knows their history, Human civilization has lost large amounts of knowledge from time to time depending on factors that lead them into decline and dark age with the knowledge be lost forever or only to remerge after a considerate amount of time. This is not the case as this profession leads to the existence of a few skilled individuals that try to survive with a set of skills that people have forgotten about because of that decline. Making a read to be fixated with as knowledge now a tool of survival rather than something to bring prosperity to all.
What I Learned: What makes this different from what I have read over the years is that it combines story with world-building that revolves around the article. Even going into writing it from the first-person point of view to make the reader feel more drawn into it. Making the idea of mixing the sort of writing into my work might be something to explore.

Article Name: The Chief Rabbit

What I found interesting about this title is the fact that it is surrounded by literal were rabbits that take up the title and have a thirst for knowledge. It is an article that goes through a lot of world-building and a considerable amount of history that does with it. Even from its height of power to its decline, it disguises itself by combining fiction with real-world events and people creating a secret history to explore something familiar yet completely different from what we know. Along with how the title properly works and the items and benefits that come with it. But even the current holder has a lot to put on her plate for she is a queen of a thousand enemies and whenever they catch her they will kill her but first they will have to catch her and it seems highly unlikely for that to happen. With people wanting to read this article to enjoy with glee.
What I Learned: This article is a combination of strong writing and exploring details that people will enjoy in reading. It is something that I will try to achieve by experimenting more with my writing.

Article Name: Solanian Masks

Now this peak my interest as I have always had a thing for masks and the ideas that it brings to a culture. This takes it to a whole other level by making them a part of everyday life adding. Evening giving reasonable purpose and the transformation of the masks from one purpose to another. To the point that has become a part of a society that defines culture from the materials that they are made of, the types they come in, and even their language to a certain degree. Even that artwork paints a good picture of how they look and design makes it go deeper than ever before. Though my only criticism is that trying to explore the rest of the world is the search system needs to be worked on there is barely anything on the front page to begin exploring.
What I Learned: Every item in a society has its purpose, but allowing it to center around an entire culture is something that should be explored as it allows new possibilities to be explored in doing so.

Article Name: Honey Burial

Now, this is an interesting way to putting the dead to a final rest. While I know this idea is bizarre, it does hold merit due to it having been done by several different cultures and the real-world benefits of honey I can see this happening in a culture that had dedicated to it. Making it all the reasons that culture would do this is to honor the dead and allow them to help the living even after they are dead.
What I Learned: It showed me an interesting way to say farewell to the dead and to further explore more ways to how a culture ticks and the values that they hold to make them more authentic and never leave them stale.

Resolutions for 2022

I tend not to make resolutions because life can be unpredictable and what is the point of a promise if you can't keep it at all. But I am willing to make an exception for this as it's not like I need to be more social or give up on pizza. So I am going to just start creating short stories more this year to expand upon my world and what I have created so far and hopefully can get more reception with them, unlike other years. So that is what I will do and maybe I will put The Sagas on hold and pick up on some of my other worlds now that I have more experience with them, but that is a maybe, and let me tell you it is never easy to start from scratch and I will probably not be pretty. So let's see what will happen in the months to come.

Honorable Mentions

I find it quite a bummer that there are so many articles to read, but very few of them that can be selected. But I say to hell with that and give some extra love to these creators and the work that brought inspiration that everyone can learn from.
