There is a story told all over the land about how the world came to be. Long ago the gods roamed living their lives in peace maintaining the status quo. This was all well and good for a time, however humans continued to grow in power so much so they began to pose a threat to even the gods themselves. This was fine, they knew that there was nothing that could be done to over come their "unyielding might". This unfortunately was their undoing. The humans grew to understand the existence of their overseers and with curiosity getting the better of them they sought the same power that kept them in place and the universe afloat.   By the time the gods had noticed it was too little too late, The power the humans had attained was too much for the world to handle, the laws were broken and magic was allowed to run amok. the universal peace was broken down and the world was given unrestrained free will, Winds would go in whatever direction they pleased, Mountains would decide they wanted to fly and simply flee the ground beneath them. All the power that was kept in control was suddenly let loose. The humans, not knowing what they had done until it was too late pleaded to the gods for forgiveness and for them to undo all the destruction they had brought upon themselves. The gods had grown resentful some even filled with hatred for the humans. There was a divide, two factions were created and a war of the gods that took many lives began between those who pitied the humans and those who simply wanted to destroy them and start over.   The ones who wanted to help decided that they would do what they could with what little power they had left. And so in a desperate attempt to save them and hide them from the gods that would see the humans destroyed, as most of the world was beyond repair and falling apart at the seems the gods took a portion of it, a continent and separated it from the unstable remains of the land they once watched over and did something even they didn't know the outcome of. They gave the land itself life and filled it with the desire to protect it's people while also wiping the minds of all that inhabited it. to create a creature that would harmlessly float through the abyss, ready to defend against an threat that might be posed to the humans while they rebuilt their world unaware of the fate of their home.
