Personal history
According to the ancient legends, Selene was raised as the first Princess of Gryneria, and was widely popular as a child. People from all over the fledgling nation flocked to see her. By the time she reached her teens, Selene had developed into a strikingly beautiful young woman with a wild, passionate and care free personality that became almost infectious. She quickly discovered that she had a great influence on those around her due to her popularity, and soon everything she done became a fashionable trend among her peers, and even among the common people in some cases. She hated clothes, which she regarded as oppressive in the heat of day, and declared that she should only wear them when it became too cold.
According to the tales, Selene received many offers of marriage during her teen years, but shunned them all to marry her half brother Marcus. Considered one of the greatest romantic stories of all time, the marriage of Selene and Marcus supposedly shocked all of Gryneria, especially because the union was blessed by Carinthe herself. Carinthe's legendary support of this incestuous marriage has remained a fundamental foundation for sex rights in the Carinthean religion for thousands of years, and is still used as the key argument for the legality of incest in Mekharian law today. Selene and Marcus had four children.
When Carinthe returned to The Youngworld through the gateway portal on Jester Island, Selene became Queen of Gryneria, and ruled until her death in 932BC. To this day, Selene is regarded as one of the most influential characters of Mekharian civilization, as well as the Carinthean religion.
