Queen Esmerelda Rigolo
Esmerelda was the only daughter of Queen Michelle Rigolo of Mekharia. She came to power at a very young age when both her mother and stepfather were assassinated by terrorists of the Bovingtonian Independence Front. Her first duty as Queen was to negotiate a peace settlement with Ancasta at the Treaty of Aeternia in 2011. As part of the agreement, she married King Fyero Daqyse of Ancasta, bringing the two nations together to form the Mekharian Empire. Esmerelda fell pregnant later that year, and gave birth to her daughter Elizebeth in 2013, who was soon followed by John a year later. She was evacuated to Ancasta during the Grynerian War when it was feared that the Mekharian Capital might have fallen.
In 2014 she was attacked in her home, captured and imprisoned by Admiral Sebastian Eves of the Mekharian Combined Intelligence Corps, and was forced to live in captivity for six months before she was found and released. Esmerelda was present when her captor was executed for treason, and promptly replaced him with Emma Horgok. Following a tour of Kellertopia in 2016 the Queen announced that she was pregnant for the third time, and later surprised the Empire when she revealed that she was expecting twins.
Esmerelda proved in her early years of rule that she was a kind, benevolent leader who was not afraid of making tough decisions. However, she relied on the Mekharian Council much more than her mother and grandmother had, and often took a back seat in internal and international politics. She was the first ruler of Mekharia to use social media, and often used it to comment on news and political events.
