The Red Brigade

The Red Brigade has operated from the shadows for generations, originally cropping up in the nation of Reino Vermelho, the Kingdom of the Red Sun. It was founded by the tender trio, Shaggy, Clipper and Goose. They spent their time robbing nobles and merchants and sharing the ill gotten gains amongst the local community. As time moved on though they continued to take on more allies and began to commit greater heists around the region. Eventually breaking into the palace of the red sun and stealing an implement of great power from the emperor, of which was never publicly disclosed. This slight drew far more attention than they were used to and they became the target of the emperors army and generals, who underwent a campaign to bring them to justice. Fortunately for the tender trio, there years of service to the community had created a network of safe houses and inspired the locals to side with them in the conflict. They were forced underground but their activities were only slowed temporarily, moving from outright organizing to games of cat and mouse, working from the shadows and operating in regions where the Emperor's control was weak. The emperor's vendetta proved to be his downfall, as it sowed discord throughout the kingdom and pulled his resources away from the borders and into the kingdom proper, it was only a matter of time before things would fall. These conditions synergized perfectly with the rebellion happening in the small town of Dolores Huerta, and with the founding of Huerta's Hammer simultaneously with the Red Brigade, the emperors grasp upon the kingdom slipped through his fingers like so much sand. Though the needles of these two organizations moral compasses point in opposite direction they share a common cause of being stewards of the people and standing against tyranny. At times they have been known to work together, at others Huerta has been known to bring the hammer of justice down upon the Red Brigade. Time continues along and the network of the Red Brigade has spread through the Nine Realms, offering mentorship to petty thieves, providing access to weaponry and contraband, and removing implements of power from those that would use them against the people.

Culture

The membership of the Red Brigade have a basic dedication to the principles of autonomy and disdain hierarchical structures. That is not to say their is no leadership within their ranks but none bow or scrape to any other. Positions of authority are earned through action and are not something given by legacy or popularity, if you are qualified then you lead, if you are not then you best follow or leave. They have independent factions scattered across the Nine Realms which has allowed them to continue to proliferate across the land. Much like the hydra, cutting off one head only leads to the creation of two more.

Assets

They have immense stores of wealth, weapons, ships, horses, carts and safe houses in every kingdom. They also safe guard stores of magic items they have deemed too dangerous to fall into the hands of those that would abuse their power. When times of great conflict or need arise they have been known to gift these items to heroes that would seek to protect the people of the land. But they are always considered to be loans and after the task has been accomplished they will quietly reacquire these items, eventually, they always come home.
