Samirah Calla (a.k.a. Sam)
Sam Calla is a female Zahren born on Aten. She is nineteen at the start of the story. Her older sister left Aten when she was a child. Her parents were later killed when Saeris raided their village in search of runaway Humans. Samirah is kind and caring. She is another "voice of reason" in the group.

Personal history
Samirah was born in Hael on Day 174 of the Year 82579 to Nadia and Kail Calla. She is the youngest of three children; elder sister Ilia, and older brother Zayne. Samriah's parents were killed during a raid on Hael when she was twelve. Her and her siblings then moved to Astrid and moved between the wards of the city. Ilia applied and was accepted into a refugee program and was able to relocate to Cressida with her spouse and young child. Zayne and Samirah remained in Astrid until the Siege of Astrid where Zayne went missing. Samirah, then sixteen, fell into the care of Kannan Zeke. Samirah then was introduced to Nash Vega, Jaymes Vega, and Gabriel Vaughn. They later met Zeb Yaeger and disappeared into the desert. Samirah devoted her life to sabotaging the Saeris in anyway possible. She still searches for clues about her brother.
