The Republic of Systems

Humanity has long left the bondage of their homeworld. Earth has become a backwater of the Republic, a place stuck in the old ways and unable to shed the nationalistic views of its people. However, beyond the Sol system, humanity is making its mark in the galaxy. Worlds have been colonized, wars have been fought among the stars, and strange peoples have been met.   In this day in age, a single unified government holds control over the world of mankind, as well as those of a few allied races. The Republic of systems was established after a lengthy war of independence from the old governments of Earth. The "new" government sits on the world of Galladia and is home to sprawling estates and large cities that administer the huge bureaucracy of The Republic.   However, The Republic is not alone in this galaxy. Some human worlds have chosen to remain independent of a system that they believe too much resembles the oppressive government long since toppled. Small enclaves of alien civilizations also exist through the galaxy, attempting to remain neutral in an unforgiving space. The only other challenger to The Republic is an alliance of two races on the far side of the galaxy. These two species fought for hundreds of years before deciding each other too equally matched and formed an alliance to make the galaxy theirs. Although they usually exist in a form of peace with The Republic, skirmishes are not uncommon along the borders. All of this serves to create a galaxy in which one can always find their own way.
