High Priestess Bombyx, High Lord of Cathedrel

The long winding spiral staircase finally opens up to a massive chamber almost mirroring the Great Chapel above with its towering pillars and great dias, except the stained glass windows are replaced with ancient and faded tapestries depicting incomprehensible scenes and persons. Where the pews of the chapel would be are instead people in rags chained to the floor, weak against their bonds. Prominently in the midst of these prisoners is a large and imposing figure, more insect than human. Their large wings and antennae suggest a mothlike appearance, though the human half is distinctly feminine and ageless and covered in a silk white shroud. As you watch you see her giant, distended, insectile abdomen ends in a long, sharp, black oviposito, which you can see buried in the chest cavity of one of the prisoners, pumping eggs. You can see now that many other prisoners lay limp with bloated bleeding bodies, on the edge of consciousness. The large chamber echoes with their moans of pain. You have stumbled into the lair of the High Lord Bombyx. At your entrance she looks up to face you, not pausing in her egg laying, her face a perfect mask of calm.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Humanoid/moth hybrid, Bombyx stands just above 10 ft tall and carries a large distended abdomen behind her covered in short white fur, ending with a sharp ovipositor.

Body Features

Skin is a ghostly white and her hair is long and dark as the night. Her human appearance ends below her navel, giving way to an insectile form complete with translucent wings, segmented legs, and a large bulging abdomen that trails 15 ft behind her.

Facial Features

Long fuzzy antennae protrude from the top of her head, and her eyes are large and compound. Her face is frozen in a visage of serenity and unbreakable calm.

Special abilities

Bombyx can use her sharp ovipositor to inject her eggs, which shortly hatch into carnivorous larvae which feast on nonessential flesh of the host, preferring to leave organs and vital structures untouched. Once the larvae have molted and become silkworms, they exit the body en masse. She possesses strong magical and psychic power associated with the Lunar Deity, such as the power of suggestion and emotional manipulation. She is able to sustain limited flight due to her massive form, able to cast spells and strike with her ovipositor while in the air.

She is draped in a silken white shroud that wraps around her human form and carries a ceremonial golden dagger encrusted in dark gemstones.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Bombyx was one of the first High Lords to come into existence, said to have some relation to the Lunar Deity. She received The Crowned's blessing to begin research into the being and later form the Circulus Lunae for the same purpose. She lives deep in the belly of Cathedrel where she prefers to avoid mortal contact, only convening with her priestesses and oracles.
