Anatomy

The Unicorn usually appears as a thin limbed glowing horse with a very slim, graceful body and a resplendent pearl, silver, diamond, gold, platinum, or quartz horn in the middle of its forehead. Its coat is normally a white or silver but there have been cases where this is different. The unicorns mane is usually the same color of either its horn, or coat. These creatures run at insane speeds, galloping at 120 mph. Their pelt is invulnerable to all but arrows made of demon horns fletched with the feathers of a black swan.

The gestation period for this animal is 11 to 30 days.

Growth Rate & Stages

When a unicorn is born it glows at 11 megawatts but slowly turns its glow to 111 watts during its first year. Unicorns may live forever if not killed. A unicorn is considered a newborn for its first year of life and is only 9ish hands tall, and its horn should be an inch in length. From its 2nd to tenth year the newborn is now a foal, and gains the ability to speak. The foal should now be 12 to 14 hands tall and the horn 3ish inches. The unicorns 11th to 100th year is considered its Teen stage where it will grow to be 13-16 hands tall, while the horn should grow another 3 and 1 half inches. It has now reached adulthood, and should grow another hand, every century, while its horn should grow by an eighth inch every year.

Ecology and Habitats

The optimal environment for this species is the woodlands, anywhere snowy with a lack of people, and mountains. The especially love to live in groves, and in or around faery mounds. Everywhere the unicorn goes, it is changed to be more lush, beautiful, and pure, while people are calmer, wiser, and happier in these places.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The unicorn is a herbivore. Its diet consists of grasses, berries, flowers, honey, and the fruits of low hanging trees. This creature also loves sugar cubes where it can find it. They need 511 calories a day but they do not gain any disadvantages from overeating.

Social Structure

The group a unicorn lives with is called its puran The Queen of this puran(Unicorns are matriarchal.) is the female unicorn who is the oldest. this is easy to determine, by how long their horn is. Purans have 6-100 unicorns in them. The Queens job is to protect the group, to punish, and upkeep the wellbeing of the group. The tier below that is the guard, who furtherly protect the puran. The tier below that are the gatherers, who gather food, find water, and scout ahead.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Every part of the unicorn is invaluable, though since killing a unicorn curses the murderer with 11 years of incredibly bad luck, it is quite rare to find any remainder of a dead unicorn. Cups or wands fashioned with a unicorn horn make the thing touched by it purified. The eyes of a unicorn are kept as the most beautiful marbles, and their hide is used as inpeturable armor. Their are only 10 unicorns in the Realm that are working; and they are the mounts for the Queen and her guard.

Facial characteristics

The eyes of a unicorn are said to be the most beautiful of all. Their appearance varies on the unicorn. Some resemble nebule while others resemble liquid diamond, others the sky and clouds. The eye of the unicorn usually are what its name is based on. They are truly the eyes to the soul.

Unicorns are found all across the globe, highly concentrated at the places untouched by society.

Unicorns are much more intelligent than the normal human being, and far, far wiser. These beings are one of the oldest in the realm, and their knowledge and memories go back millennia.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The horn on the unicorns head is the center of its power. The unicorn can send beams of light to attack its foes through this. The horn itself has the power to heal any wound, and cure any ailment. It can be used on evil aligned creatures to severely burn their impurities. The horn also allows it to speak any language, and a weak telekinesis.

Naming Traditions

The unicorns name, is usually based on its eyes. This can result in all sorts of names, from Warm Honey to Star. The name is given to it on its 11th day of life, by its mother. If the mother is deceased the name will be given by the Queen of that puran. The last name however is the first name of the Queen of that particular puran. When a unicorn becomes Queen they may choose their own last name.

Average Technological Level

The unicorns have the technological level just above most animals. Their telekinesis allows them to make things like baskets for the gatherers to put food in. They use it for quite a lot of other things as well.

While the unicorn my speak any language, even the great languages of power, effectively letting unicorns do magic, they mostly speak in their tongue, Silvian.

Common Etiquette Rules

When a unicorn greets a unicorn they touch horns and say "May the stars watch over you." For goodbye they light their horns and say "I will see you with Selena." When eating everything but grasses, the Queen gets the first pick of the food, then the guard, then the gatherers in order of who brought the most food. Their only mealtime is lunch and this lasts from half an hour to two, depending on the size of the puran.

These beautiful creatures are descended from the "Alicorn" or a unicorn with wings. It is speculated that they have some ties to the fae, but the truth of these rumors remains unknown.

This species is quite common, although most people only see 4-5 in their lifetime. There is estimated to be a total of 100 million of these creatures worldwide. To kill one, is the most heinous crime.
