Dragon Pearl Blossoms
Dragon Pearl Blossoms are radiant flowers that grow from creeping vines that spread across the floor in the deepest parts of the Willowwood. The blossoms are bell shaped with many slender petals arching upward, enclosed in a bell shape around the flower’s pistil. The blossoms appear in many different vibrant colors and are known to actually change hue throughout their growth life. The most common colors of Dragon Pearl Blossoms are red, pink, blue, violet, yellow, and orange.
The old tales say that the Willowwood fairy folk made the Dragon Pearl Blossoms manifest through a mystic shaping of the Power of Eternity. The tales proclaim the Blossoms to be the work of capricious fairies who wished to punish and dissuade folks from trespassing in the deep Willowwood. If these old tales are true, then the fairy folk failed in their mission, for the Dragon Pearl Blossoms of the deep Willowwood are highly sought after for their medicinal properties and have been the cause of many adventurous expeditions in the Willowwood.
A Dragon Pearl Blossom’s pistil is a key ingredient in many alchemical elixirs. The raw extract of a Dragon Pearl Blossom acts as a perfect base for potions, medicines, and intoxicants. Mixing Dragon Pearl Blossom Extract with water in the correct ratios will create a rather potent elixir of health. When a master apothecary begins to tinker and add other ingredients, the effects can be magnified or altered.
The potential for poaching these miraculous flowers is tempered by the combination of their location deep in the Willowwood and the oddfolk defense initiatives of the Willowwood fairy folk. Alliances between the oddfolk and Castle Ridge have allowed for a limited supply of Dragon Pearl Blossoms to be available for the Queen’s apothecaries and wizards. In exchange for the potent flowers, the Phoenix Queen provides the oddfolk with strategic defensive technology to help protect the Dragon Pearl Blossoms, along with the oddfolk's homes, from the corruption of the vile Feybog.
