Data spheres project holographic words, imagery, and video clips into the space in front of the viewer, allowing the records to be viewed and utilized in an efficient manner.
Data Spheres are modified by their possessors through the use of data chits, smaller bits of technology that can transmit data from one sphere to another. Weighty tomes are no longer an issue for the wise old wizards of the land, as the floating data spheres are able to hold exponentially more histories, essays, spells, and rituals than even the heaviest book.
Data Spheres are common and will often include vast stores of knowledge related to history, science, medicine, technology, as well as stories, rhymes, and song. That said, certain Data Spheres are incredibly rare. These rarer spheres often contain Powerful information about magic and mysticism. The rarer Spheres are prized possessions of wizards and scholars of the Realm.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The typical data sphere is a photonamite construct with a crystallus core. A photonamite projection array provides the anti-grav technology necessary for the sphere to float in the user's field of vision. The crystallus core is kept in a constant state of form fluxuation, causing the crystallus to never be quite solid, nor completely liquid. As the core liquefies and solidifies into perpetuity, great swaths of information can be added to the ever changing computation engine created by the fluxuation field. Simple aural processors allow the user to access the information via voice command.
