Half Dwarf Species in The Realm of Beardsgaard | World Anvil

Half Dwarf

Half Dwarves are somewhere between their Human and Dwarven ancestors in size, physical characteristics and temperament, tending toward the more social nature of their Human parents, but the lifespan of their Dwarven parents.

Because the two are neighbors that do a brisk trade with each other, there is plenty of mixing and mingling, but fewer children than one might expect. They are just as at home in either kingdom, seen as short hairy Humans or tall, less hairy Dwarves.

Dwarves and Humans mature at significantly different rates in their societies, but physically at similar rates (a bit faster for Humans). They would be considered adults by the standard of who raised them, and share the customs of that species.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

Half Dwarf age stages take after whichever culture they are raised in, but all things being equal, they lean toward their elven side in this regard. They are considered fully grown if not fully mature adults at 16 years of age (some may grow and fill in a touch more in the next few years), at 60 they are usually done with their procreation years, and are considered an elder at 100 years old, reaching an average of 250 years of age.
Legacy Beings take on traits of each of their parent species. A single Dwarf far back in a long line of Humans will make for a present day Half Dwarf with mostly Human characteristics.   Choose which of your parent species you take after more, then take the Stats and Prime Traits of that parent species, and the Legacy Trait of the other parent species.
