Aeronaut
An aeronaut is one trained in the construction and workings of a lighter-than-air airship. Because of an aeronaut's deep knowledge of aeronautics it is the only profession allowed by law to work with airships. The only exception to this is the skydog, a crewhand trained to perform specific, and often dangerous tasks.
Career
Qualifications
One must succesfully complete a rigorous training program at the aeronautics guild in order to become a licensed aeronaut. An undertaking that takes the average student nearly a decade to complete, if at all. Many students drop out, being unable to grasp the complexity of aeronautics. Those that succeed will have specialized in either engineering or navigation. An aeronaut with the ambition to become captain must specialize in both fields of aeronautics.
Career Progression
An aeronaut that has specialized in both engineering an navigation, has obtained enough hours of flight time, and has the recommendation of another captain can take the captains exam. Only an aeronaut captain is licensed to commandeer an airship.
