Driisadae

The mother tongue of the Sumiini and their Urino culture. The language shares only a few similarities with others that share its parent language, Elder Tongue, but there is a prominent creole with the Enohch language.   The language itself has a grammatical gender system, but rather than each noun having its set gender (such as masculine prefixes for tables, and feminine for chairs, across the whole language), instead the grammatical gender will depend on the area/village of Sumiini you are talking in. Since each settlement has its own speciality, their name will usually reflect this. For example, a fungal specialist place, would give the prefix for a "fungal gender" to its entire vocabulary of nouns, but a village specialising in corals, would give their entire vocabulary of nouns a "coral prefix".   Given the relatively vast amount of Sumiini settlements across the Underdepths, this has given rise to a large number of grammatical genders, that make it tedious and time consuming to learn them all. Conversely however, outsiders usually only deal or come into contact with one or two of these villages, and so will only need to learn those one or two genders associated with those villages.
