Crusader Information Gear

Here at the Timeline Crusaders, we do our best to ensure our teams have the information they need at their fingertips. As a result of this drive, we have developed a few devices and spells such as the Gridpad Gauntlet and Mind Link enchantment. Below, we outline further what each of these objects are used for.   Gridpad Gauntlet: Using this gauntlet is a handy way for our Crusaders to be able to access our database (this database) from anywhere. Mainly used while out in the field, it also helps Crusaders with time off make sense of some of the weirder things on the grid. Their basic utility was taken from an already existent device on the grid, Dimensional Database Access Points. Also known as D.D.A.P.'s or, informally, (D.) Daps. While D.D.A.P.'s are commonly used by grid citizens, the gridpad gauntlet has access to many pages classified by the Timeline Crusaders to prevent mass panic. One can also access the classified content of the Timeline Crusader pages by presenting I.D. or by performing a, "Database Uplink". Game Mechanics: This honestly is more of a handwave for player access to the world anvil than anything. But, I wanted to take advantage of WA access to help the world feel more unique. So here is the gist. There is a new spell exclusive to the Grid called, "Database Uplink". The Gridpad (uncommon) and D.D.A.P. (common) are magic items which cast this spell without using a spell slot.   Database Uplink: 1st Level Divination (Ritual) | Casting Time: 1 hour | Range: Self | Components: | V, S, M (A bundle of wires and a transparent object such as glass or a gemstone) | Duration: 1 hour | You create a connection between yourself and one technological database you have access to. | As an action in timed events (Combat, etc), you can tell me (the DM) what pages and info you will try to find. You can then access the World Anvil once the next player's turn has started to do whatever research you can until your turn starts again. You can lookup the enemy for potential weaknesses, find stats for a race, etc. You can even go to other pages if there's free time still. If there's no timed event, this is a free action, and doesn't need permission. If "Dispel Magic" is cast on any access point, it ceases to work for 24 hours, or until a spell slot greater than or equal to the casting of, "Dispel Magic", is used to reboot the connection.   Mind Link Enchantment: The Timeline Crusaders may famous for its Crusaders, but nothing gets done without information. To help keep operations teams in the loop, a psychic enchantment was developed. This has greatly increased efficiency, due to the cooperation between Case Gallants, sometimes called handlers, and Crusaders themselves. Additionally it helps us track where Crusaders currently are on the Grid without Scrying or other invasive methods.
Gameplay Mechanics: This enchantment allows crusaders to communicate with a handler's access point and any active Crusaders in the squad. It functions the same as a sending stone, with the caveat that all individuals currently connected can hear any sent messages.   When these fail: We know that there are limitations which come with such devices and magic. A great example of this, is a susceptibility to magical fields. Strong fields of magic, especially common in planes, can overpower many of our communicative devices. This causes them to emit unusable streams of information or simply be drowned out. Because of such shortcomings, we have developed for you alternative means of reaching us. These include predetermined rendezvous points or homing beacons, equipped with stronger magic to pierce the dimensional barriers with information intact. Much of this is situation dependent, but if you are suddenly found without a functioning Gridpad, you can create a, "Database Uplink", using magical or technological means. As for reaching contacts and handlers, there are many ways. Sending spells, and grid travel rarely fail. Neither does asking anyone truly sympathetic to our cause.
