Under a corrupt government bent only on maintaining power and wealth, the peasantry must rely on thieves, pirates, and scoundrels to be their hidden heroes in the darkness.   Experience tales of adventure, romance, and horror as these colorful rogues push back against the forces of darkness. In a city plagued by vampires, zombies, and other creatures of the night, a secret war is waged in the shadows of the city streets.

The Ravencrest Chronicles: Omnibus One

In the city of Seahaven, dark threats loom around every corner. In such a desperate place, it falls upon the shoulders of thieves, pirates, scoundrels, and even orphans to fight to protect the people from things lurking in the shadows.   The Ravencrest Chronicles Omnibus One includes the first four books of the series: Seahaven, The Hunter’s Apprentice, The Giant and the Fishes, and Tales From the Lusty Mermaid.   Within these three novellas and a collection of short stories, flash fiction, and poetry, the world of The Ravencrest Chronicles comes to life with a level of gritty realism seldom seen in print.

Seahaven

Gareth Vann is an accomplished thief in the city of Seahaven. He is mostly concerned with coin and drink, but does have an altruistic streak. He never intended to be a hero, though, until an encounter with vampires, dreaded undead creatures of the night. Now, he finds himself trapped in the middle of a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the highest levels of nobility and must reluctantly hunt the creatures of the night the only way he knows how: from the shadows.   Seahaven is the first book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of pulp fiction inspired novels, novellas, and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven. Thieves, pirates, cutthroats, and scoundrels await; along with nefarious evil-doers and the endless ranks of the undead in Seahaven.
Gareth smiled. With that kind of wealth was sitting out in the open, there was always more hidden away. He tugged at the window and it opened freely, as second story windows in Seahaven often did. One of these days, he thought, these fools will learn to bar their windows. That they had not yet was surprising. It wasn't like he was the only pad-foot in the city, yet still his job remained easier than it should have been.

The Hunter's Apprentice

Miles is a young orphan growing up in Seahaven. The coastal city has always been his home, and the streets have always been where he laid his head. Now, he is learning the shadow craft from his mentor, Gareth. Life seems to be looking up for Miles until he hears news of grave danger in the city. Together, Miles and Gareth must uncover the secrets behind a most sinister plot. Miles discovers that there are deadlier things awaiting in the shadows than he could have imagined, and with Gareth’s help he must learn to hunt them down.   The Hunter’s Apprentice is the second book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of pulp fiction inspired fantasy novels, novellas, and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven.
A sudden scream piercing the night alerted them that their prey was nearby. Gareth took off at a sprint without hesitating, but Miles and Filian were close behind. They rounded the corner of one of the old tumbled down ruins to find a woman backed against a wall. Her face was full of terror, and her mouth open in a scream that had been silenced abruptly. Before her stood a man - or what might have been a man at one time - with a gaunt and shallow face; his skin stretched too tight and split in places. The mouth of the thing hung open and cocked at an odd angle with sticky drool forming webs between its rotten teeth. An almost inaudible moan escaped the ragged throat.

The Giant and the Fishes

Fergus always dreamed of setting sail out on the sea, free of the confines of the city of Seahaven. He never thought he would actually get the chance until tragedy befalls his family. Suddenly, he is thrust into a world of violence, adventure, and coin! Fergus lives the life he always wanted as a pirate, but he is haunted by his past. As the shadows behind him grow ever darker, the challenges ahead muster like a furious storm on the sea. Will he be consumed by his own mind, or will he finally find the atonement for which he strives?   The Giant And The Fishes is the third book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of pulp fiction inspired fantasy novels, novellas, and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven.
Fergus stood on the forecastle of the Bloody Wench, leaning against one of the stubby carronades that were mounted there as chase guns. The sails on the horizon grew larger with every passing minute. How many times had he stood there over the last five years, waiting as the pirate ship closed on their prey? Fifty times? A hundred? He had twenty-one summers behind him, and was a man now. He didn’t like the man he had become; stuck here on this ship. He had left one self-imposed prison, those years ago in old town, for another.

Tales From the Lusty Mermaid

Pull up a seat and grab a full flagon of ale, because tonight is bound to be a night full of action, adventure, and romance! At The Lusty Mermaid, tall tales of all sorts are told every night. You’re in luck, because tonight is no exception. From a castle gala to a giant octopus, the city of Seahaven has all sorts of strange tales to tell.   Tales from the Lusty Mermaid is the first anthology in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of dark fantasy set in and around the coastal trade city of Seahaven.   Featuring a new novelette, The Sparrow’s War.   Master thief Gareth Vann has trained an army of orphan children to act as his spies in Seahaven. When they learn of a foul plot targeting their own, they take up arms and fight the darkness from the shadows!
Liam nodded to Hatha. With a mischievous grin, she was off. The small girl crept silently towards the table, dancing into and out of shadows with the grace of a cat. Some of the children noticed her, and they started to call out and raise a clamor. Hatha ran the last few feet to her foe as he began to look around in alarm. She leaped onto his back. He opened his mouth to shout something, but only a gurgle of blood escaped his lips as she drew her knife across his throat. He toppled from the chair, landing atop her and pinning her to the ground.

The next wave of Ravencrest books are coming up in the second half of 2019. Unlike the episodic nature of the first wave – which focused on introducing key characters and the setting – the second wave will be a serialized epic told over the course of three novellas.   A mysterious cult has infiltrated every part of Seahaven, from the most respected nobility all the way down to the dockworker’s guild. Gareth leads the charge in unraveling this dark conspiracy, joined by friends old and new.

Midnight Masques

Gareth and Miles have become protectors of the city of Seahaven at the head of a guild of thieves, pirates and scoundrels. Operating from the shadows, they keep the common folk safe from sinister dangers that lurk in the darkness. When an old friend warns him of a new threat to the city, Gareth finds himself rubbing elbows with the very noble caste he despises. Escorting his old friend to a masquerade at Castle Ravencrest itself, Gareth quickly discovers that his men aren’t the only ones hiding in the shadows. Concealed behind masques in the night, a dark organization plots to sow chaos in Seahaven.   Midnight Masques is the fifth book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of dark flintlock fantasy novellas and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven.

Tapestry of Lies

Gareth has discovered that a mysterious cult has infiltrated the nobility of Seahaven. What dark designs could this shadowy organization have upon a city already ruled by vampires? Fighting back the only way he knows — from the shadows themselves — Gareth rallies his underworld contacts to root out the heart of this new conspiracy. Miles, Fergus, The Sparrows, and others all set out to discover the truth behind the masques now found from the noble district all the way to the harbor. As they uncover more threads in the mystery, Gareth soon learns that the entire city has been resting upon a tapestry of lies for years.   Tapestry of Lies is the sixth book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of dark flintlock fantasy novellas and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven.

Cult of the Shadow Queen

Gareth and his army of rogues have ripped the masques from the faces of the enemy and unraveled the tapestry of lies beneath a grand conspiracy to subvert every aspect of life in the city of Seahaven. Now revealed, the Shadow Queen puts into motion her plans for the city. Calling upon legions of devoted followers and the forces of dark magic, she wages war in the heart of the city itself. Striking back from the darkness, Gareth and his league of scoundrels must face the greatest threat the city of Seahaven has ever known. But this threat hides in shadows deeper even than the city’s protectors can imagine.   Cult of the Shadow Queen is the seventh book in The Ravencrest Chronicles, a series of dark flintlock fantasy novellas and short fiction set in the coastal city of Seahaven.
