Contessa Lucia Priuli

Contessa Priuli was a noble woman in Verona, Italy, in the latter part of the 19th Century, passing in the first decade of the 20th Century. She was a spirited woman with a personality that made her stand out in society, but not to the extent that it negatively effected her social standing.

In the mid-1880s, Contessa Priuli chose to take in Tianna Udovin, a young, ostensibly orphaned Opera singer. This caused many rumors, but the fact that neither the Contessa nor the singer ever caused a scandal, those rumors never gained much traction.

In fact, the only other shocking event to come of the situation was that the Contessa left her home, Priuli Villa, to Tianna upon her death. Since the Contessa had never borne children, it wasn't quite the scandal it could have been, and Tianna eventually passed the Villa on to the young family of Andre Boudreaux and his wife, Lisette.

Excerpt from A Time & a Place
1884
A severe throat cleared at the back of the pack, and the men flinched away from the woman who strode towards Tianna like a force of nature. Her dark brown gown was elegant in its simplicity, with only a few ruffles and a modest bustle.
The woman was perhaps in her forties. She had brown hair with strands of bright silvery-gray running through it. Her eyes were a dark steel gray, and her expression alone put the men in their place.
