Norvelland

Structure

Norvelland has a King, under the king are a couple of jarls who rule over a province of Norvelland, under those Jarls are earls, earls rule over a single village. when they claim another village for whatever reason they become a jarl.

Public Agenda

Norvelland is seen as the brother of Gol, the two icy giants in the far north. They intimidate the more southern nations into whatever they want, which is often favourable trade deals.

Assets

A lot of pillage from before the Tulvian conquest, nearly everyone within Norvelland is trained to fight with shield and axe. Powerful ships built on speed and versatility.

History

Norvelland and Gol are both known as raider empires, before the Tulvian conquest their soldiers often landed ashore in Tulvia, Etheria and holy etheria to raid cities and villages in quikc succession and taking the loot back home to sell to others. They still have a lot of this loot to this day and are refusing to say sorry or give it back to the original owners. "only the strong survive in this world" is what they often give as answer.

Demography and Population

Norvelland is very spread out and more wilderness than civilization, the fauna that roams between the cities and villages is often dangerous and the icy cold weather does not help to make the nation more attractive to outsiders. Those who live in those cities and villages have a lot of autonomy and it's not unusual to see an earl being toppled by one of his ambitious villagers, or an earl conquering multiple villages and becoming jarl. Even the king is not safe from this, the dynasty switches often after a second generation or even earlier if a lot of people never really supported the king in the first place.

Military

The army of Norvelland is not really existing, when the king starts a military campaign he explains what he is planning to do and needs to rally his people. Most people in Norvelland are trained in melee combat with the traditional axe and shield combat, if the people deem it's cause not worth spilling their own blood over it will often not happen or even worse, turn into a civil war.

Religion

They reconize the Ehterian pantheon since those gods often come to earth to discuss and observe with their people but they only really follow the gods that want to further their interests and are not affraid to reject the gods if they stand in their way.

Foreign Relations

Norvelland has an uneasy alliance with Everia, Everia knows they can't take on Norvelland at this moment and made sure they can not invade without angering other nations by multiple trade deals and other treaties. Norvelland hates to be landlocked, especially since their entire culture is based around sailing and raiding, and since Gol is a great friend at the moment they only reasonable place to expand is into Everia.

Agriculture & Industry

Farming is often impossible thanks to the harsh climate of the north, the people hunt for food. the mountains surrounding Norvelland however are filled with precious minerals, one of those being the rare sunstone, which attracted a lot of dwarves to the land.

Trade & Transport

Norvelland trades with both neighbours, Gol has more of a share deal going on, they help each other survive. Everia is just like the rest of the south, a cash cow for Norvelland, they will try to get money out of anything.
