Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Virgil is a very slim young man with dark brown skin and thick black hair.

Body Features

Virgil is so thin that the only layer of flesh on him appears to be lean muscle and not much else. At first glance a visitor would think he was a mad wizard due to his eccentric choice of clothing.

Facial Features

He looks like any ordinary African as far as his face is concerned.

Identifying Characteristics

Like Elma, he wears his hair in an elaborate mohawk with gold beads strung through it.

Physical quirks

He is ambidextrous.

Special abilities

Despite there being a taboo against men interacting with the Vigil's pet hyenas, Virgil is able to get them to listen to him on occasion.

Apparel & Accessories

He wears an orange and blue tartan kilt, and heavy workman boots. Virgil doesn't appear to like shirts very much.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

One of Elma's many younger cousins among the Vigil Islanders . From a young age, he showed an aptitude towards wizardry, leading his family to remark that if only he had been born a woman, he could be next in line to become chieftain.

Education

Though nobody ever thought he would become next in line for chieftain, Virgil was given lessons in witchcraft and wizardry by older members of his family.

Accomplishments & Achievements

He has successfully recreated a drug that voodoo shamans would use to make living zombies.
His second success was building up his reputation as a frightening bloodthirsty pirate shaman so that most people wouldn't go after his people.

Mental Trauma

He believes his cousin Elma has betrayed what the Vigil Islanders stand for by converting to Christianity.

Intellectual Characteristics

Virgil is well-read on most French philosophy, and some European tracts. He's a particular fan of Voltaire and Machiavelli.

Virgil believes in blood for blood, especially for his people. His reasoning is that since the world won't accept them, they have to take a harsher stand.

Motivation

He wants Elma to go back to the traditional Vigil faith. If she refuses, he wishes to compete against all their other cousins and take her place as chief.
This is because he believes himself the next worthy heir regardless of his gender.

Virgil is extremely skilled at boxing. He can also brew up some serious potions.

Virgil believes in a form of voodoo. Summed up, he thinks blood spilled in battle especially from outsiders is a worthy tribute to his ancestors.
This put him at odds with Elma, who wanted a less sanguinary life.
