Pirate Wedding

"I confess! My heart is so inflamed by your beauty and strength, we must confirm it by the rites of sea!"

History

Pirate weddings started as soon as shipping colonies got set up in the Pits. The men and women there had thoughts of staying there forever and starting happy families of their own.

Execution

The pair will normally be seen off for the last time from their family homes, then head off on their ship for a short cruise.
Said cruise usually takes a week out at sea within the Pits' waters.
Compared to a normal raid, wedding cruises are a breeze as the wedding couple can enjoy the trip or practice their shore skills on board.

Components and tools

Red, black, and white cloth cut into the shape of triangular pennants to be hung up on ships.
Obviously, a ship must be obtained for the crew and happy couple.
During the cruise, finer food than the usual ship rations of dry tack and beef stock is taken on board, along with a sizable amount of beer and rum.
Teetotalers have the option of pressed fruit juice while on board.
The wedding party will usually wear clothes made out of at least white, blue, red, and black cloth, a blend of the sea colors and the flags of piracy.

Participants

"Can't have a wedding without a happy couple!"

The future married couple are the stars of the wedding.
Their parents, other relatives, and friends will also follow suit on the cruise to keep them company.
If the couple is particularly religious, they'll have a minister of their faith come to read their vows when they are first in port.

Observance

Generally, the sea wedding rites take place a few months after the couple declare their intent to marry.
Wedding cruises will set sail during weeks where no extensive expeditions to the Lost Lands take place, to ensure there is enough manpower to keep the ship going.
