Brief Story

First Meeting After years of population growth two species, separated by thermal barriers, come into contact. The Phrian from below were searching for a warmer climate higher up the Pillar's central shaft. At this time the Phrian had no means of excavating the Anaqui. They were simply living in the mined-out veins of ore as well as primitive scaffolding hanging out into the pillar itself. Important Notes From Before What Phrian can boast about however is that before interaction with the Zenfro, they already had primitive means of capturing the items falling from the top of the pillar. With massive nets made out of fiber, teams would head to opposite sides of the pillar, spread the net, and attempt to stop the falling objects. They would do this with the aid of massive weights tied to the corners of the net. Zenfro on the other hand lived in the Anaqui for the means to melt it away was already known to them. At this point in time, however, the process was still very dangerous.  It should be stated that by this time the religion of Wrungthoom has already been born and passed around. Plunthrunae on the other hand has not. When the races meet for the first time on a Phrian voyage to the upper regions of the pillar they are immediately met with hostility. This due to the Zenfro's belief that there were monsters living in the depths of the pillar. Over time a relationship was worked out between the races as bridges were built between their two societies. Some of course were still not happy about this. It can be assumed that the original Phrian society, pre-birth of Ethos, found its home around the bottom of the Grovel. Zenfro, by that logic, had their original home around where haven is currently located. Both races had something to offer to the other, Phrian taught the Zenfro how to catch objects falling from above and the Zenfro carved out space for the Phrian. At this point in time, the relationship was mostly smooth. There were bumps of course but the progress of excavation for the major populous of either race to meet was mostly uninterrupted. Turmoil Unfortunately, while the Zenfro simply wanted to meet the others living in the pillar to gain knowledge, the Phrian's goal was always to reach a warmer climate. When Phrian living among Zenfro in the upper layers was discussed, this was met with harsh backlash. Of course, it was explained, Zenfro can't live in a cold climate, Phrian can, Phrian should stay in said climate. Sidebar It should be stated that at this point in time there are Phrian living in what would now be known as the decent as well as others still living in what is now the grovel. Eothian War This gainless agreement didn't sit well with many Phrian and rumors of war began to spread. On an unremembered date, the leader of the Zenfro was murdered by a Phrian. While the Phrian was quickly captured it was too late. The message was sent and received. During this period technology improved rapidly, unfortunately, to be used for war. The Phrian fighting for a new home and the Zenfro fighting to keep theirs exclusive. While the Phrian had numbers on their side the Zenfro had an immense advantage in verticality. When the war came to a bloody end all Phrian involved were locked away in a prison constructed in what is now the Grovel. The grovel as it is now is the remains of that crumbling prison. All Phrian unaffiliated with the war were free to live in what is now the descent. Another condition of the Phrian's defeat is that they must pass all knowledge on to the Zenfro and must never have technology that rivals that of the Zenfro. Changing Times Time passes like this and regulations become laxer. The ancient prison is no more and in its place sits hovel growing atop hovel. The Descent is still where middle-class Phrian find themselves however they are not wallowing in dept. There is also a newly developed commerce district in the center of this level.  The center of the city is used for education centers and politics. At this time education is still segregated between the races however public parks and businesses are open to all. The Accent is where the "lower class" Zenfro, as well as lucky Phrian politicians and business owners, find themselves. Said lower class are still overwhelmingly rich however. The Accent now also houses the main commerce center for all those living in the upper layers. Haven is where the one percent live. It is a space of massive houses and relaxation centers. Said businesses here aren't segregated by policy but rather price. The political ruler of the city also calls this district his home. Ethos One can guess if the war is known as the Eothian war then the war and the name of the city must have some relation. The naming of the city followed the war and its name. The city was named Ethos for the simple reason to act as a reminder to those who lost said war, who did win.
