The Rebels of Karagus

On the massive island of Litin, at the heart of the Oryuh Archipelago, the city of Karagus was once governed by a King. At first, when he succeeded to his father, he was just and his people had no grievance against him. But as the years passed, it was becoming obvious to all—first his family, wife, and children, the court, and then the people—that he was turning mad. His decree contradicted one another. He started to forget names, people, and entire regions. And finally, he refused to abdicate and to tae care of anyone beside himself. Even though this transformation took place over many years, the people suffered rapidly from this change. And little by little, a rebellion formed. First, nothing was organised and people just took against the guards or the official announcers. But after a while, when the situation was really worsening, a hero to the people emerged from the shadows.

Julius of Karagus

Know to all by the name of Julius, this hero’s only purpose was to save the city, save the citizen, and restore justice among all. And for that he rallied people everywhere. Everyone soon learned about how Julius was rebelling against the Monarch, and how everybody should join. And from Hero, he became a legend, creating in his wake the order of The Rebels of Karagus. Historically speaking, there is no trace of any Julius. So the legends have been running wild regarding his story.

Some say he is one of the princes who started a coup against his own father

Some say he was just a blacksmith’s son, fed up with the poverty his family was living in

Some even say he is a magician and only his magic has been really saving the kingdom.

What is certain is that no official record, or description, has been registered of this Julius so we will never know the truth. What is also certain is that the Rebels of Karagus, assembling around Julius’ name, have dethroned the King and changed the regime. The city of Karagus has been the first Republic of the Archipelago.
