The Mages of Powers

Magic has always been a big part of the Oryuh Archipelago. From the creation of the islands, it has always been there, and naturally, people quickly tried to master it and use it for all purposes, good or bad.   Very quickly, schools formed to help people learn the trades of Magic, and the most successful then are the ones who still exist today. Across the islands, people send their most brillant young men and women to learn Magic and come back with the knowledge necessary to maintaining their countries. Mages—as were called the ones who mastered Magic—soon became a force to maintain close for people of power. And the most brillant and powerful mages were frequently solicited, mostly chasing the richest and most generous monarchs to follow.   But some Mages didn’t like the idea that Magic could be bought, as well as the Mages’ loyalty. And they tried to find a way to remain neutral. Finally, they realised that to keep their neutrality against powerful monarchs and even dynasties, they had to become a powerful entity themselves. They decided to became an order called “The Mages of Powers” and chose rules to obey in order to become one of them:
  • believe that Magic is precious and should not be tempered with for futilities
  • believe in the freedom of Magic and those who uses it
  • believe that no Mage should be bought for his skill and swear not to receive money directly in exchange of a service
  • trust the Organisation knows best and obey its orders.
  • Soon they realised they did need money, and the Organisation itself received it from the people asking for help to maintain the Mages inside the order. But they still decided a large part of their actions should be free and so the Mages of Powers travel a lot to small villages and countries to offer free help to those in need.
