The Orion Spur

Humanity has been in space for centuries, and much has changed. After the horrors of the century long Gene Wars, interstellar civilization was in ruins. From those ashes, new great powers rose to prominence.   The Empire, a nation built on the principles of enlightened monarchy, seeking to bring all of humanity under its banner, and look outwards to the rest of the galaxy.   The United Republic, those who refused to abandon democratic government , and stand against the Empire's ambitions   The Syndicate, those who seek to abandon archaic forms of government, and run their nation on the principles of meritocracy, lead by a council of experts in the various sciences and arts.   The Frontier Union, a fiercely independent alliance of nations that fled to the edge of the Orion Arm to escape the gene wars. Their numbers are few, but they'll defend their freedom and sovereignty to the death.   Between these great powers are a myriad of small nations struggling to survive, they serve as fuel for the fires of conflict that have been raging for centuries. However, this era is coming to an end. These nations have grown corrupt and decadent, having lost sight of their original ideals. A new generation is here, and its heroes will bring about the change humanity so desperately needs.
