The Pillar

The Pillar is a guild of criminals that gain most of their revenue from bodyguarding, bookmaking, burglary, blackmail, and many other activities. They are a loyalist gang that was created by the youngest step brother of the First king in the Lupercal Dynasty.   Their historical patron is Konrad Kurze, he built the pillar to keep the Vostroyan state in criminal activity. For many years this worked out and the state had so much control that the dynasty reigned for 5 centuries without any problem concerning rebellion and chaos. Contenders to the crown were always faced with the task of climbing or destroying the Pillar to reach the throne, both seemingly impossible.   Recently due to external influence such as Baphomann, the Pillar has lost some ground in the Capital, and seemingly cannot contain the ambition and wealth of the Chancellor.   The Pillar is now a gang that longs for the days of controlled chaos, and working with the state, but the more time passes the more generations forget what their original purpose was in the guild and fall into the pit that is criminal life. The Pillar has been most affected in Portemort, but they still have a strong presence in Zamokret and Guldor. Saint vance was always tricky because of the Inquisition siege there, whom were seperated from the state and are part of the Church.

The Pillar of the West

The pillar in Zamokret has but one job, secure enough alcohol to ship into portemort and the taverns there, they also sell their hops to the priest of saint octave. They are scattered in the farms, always knowing what goes where. Duke Vadim has always made the promise to get rid of them, but once he got in power he realised how important they are to his economy.   The Pillar has always had a problem with some of the great families of Zamokret, who own big farms. These families control entire towns and won't let the pillar have a piece of the cake. There are many stories of raids into those houses leaving with a bloody scene and an example that you don't push the pillar, or everything falls on you.
