A Duke by Circumstance
Before being crowned King, Averin was just a member of a large family of nobles in Zamokret, he was the fourth child of his parents and was never groomed for governing, nor war, nor religion, nor art. He was just another Vadim, compared to his older brothers who were all powerful by the time they reached adulthood. But fate had it so that his brothers would all die in their profession, Dietrich the warrior died in a skirmish near the Darkwood, Elmer the Baron died from poison, and Ivo the priest died from an alcohol overdose. The parents, devastated by all their loss, took their lives from one another using poison, leaving Averin to be the only heir to the Duchy of Zamokret.
A King by Circumstance
Duke Vadim married Lady Cecilia Vici of Solis to strengthen the alliance between Zamokret and Averland, and this mariage is what ultimately brought Baphomann upon him. Baphomann has been Vadim's sponsor for some years now, always guiding his finances and assets towards growth. Vadim also re ignited the conflict between the humans and the elves by sending raiding parties to burn the forest and destroy the tribesmen. He claims that there is a great untapped ressource in Tamphocai that is said to rival the power of a divine intervention.
After his failures during the War of the Four Dukes, and the rebellions in his duchy, Vadim never imagined the possibility of him wearing the crown, but here he is, sitting on the marble throne in the Basilica Mortis in Portemort, just getting a taste for kingly powers.
His time as king was interesting because of the imbalance of power between him an Chancellor Baphomann. But after the latter left his position and the kingdom, he was left alone in a place of paranoia, with no one on his side. He was known to have no advisers and no court mages except for Baphomann.
Death by Circumstance
During the attack on Portemort, Vadim was being escorted in a safe place under the basilica, but he did not have time to hide as Morne melted the structure, and took him. He was dropped in the middle of the chaos where he was recognized by some low lives and stabbed to death.
