Guldor
The great metal wall of the eastern coast of Vostroya was erected to close the only passage one would take to go beyond east. The passage of Vorota. It was guarded by the Common Army , recruited as taxation from fiefs across the land. They were the sentinels. Some of them went beyond the gates to multiple outposts to ensure the best protection for their homeland, they were conditioned there to accept that their life might end at any second, for the might of the eastern danger is too great. A large industrial complex was located there to keep the machines of war going on the west side of the wall, with a town of almost a thousand inhabitants consisting of workers, miners, engineers, bureaucrats and occasional political guests.
Propaganda was often used to show the dangers of the East, the hordes of demons that threaten life in Vostroya every day. But in reality, the wasteland is so far away, and ridled with canyons, cliffs, narrow passages before the gate that this army was too big for the job. It was a strategy made to weaken the other Dukes, keeping the peace in some sense. No other Duke had a force that large at their command, and certainly didn't have the propaganda backing it.
Conscripts
Every first born in Vostroya for the last 30-40 years has been sent here for military service, and recently for total conscription into the Common Army. The conditions of life here are very low, especially for low ranking privates. Food is essentially mud when on the eastern side, and even the meals in the fort itself won't blow you away. Some say conscripts ate corpses for efficiency, but the administration of the fort has repeatedly denied it.The Fall of Guldor
Since the arrest of Marshal Sversky, Guldor was never weaker, being already damaged by a year long blockade, and its army being re purposed to serve other operations in the civil war. The fort was attacked by the combined forces of Morne the eclipse, the Plague Acolytes of Nurgle, and the Ghoul army of Upper Strygos. While the dragon melted the wall, the two other armies slowly infiltrated the fort and slowly push the battle in their favor, by way of attrition. Ghouls burrowed and carried the deadly disease called the Tears of Nurgle, which devastated most conscripts in the fortress. The Fort was taken, and with thousands of men retreating, the border was breached and a war for containment was upon Vostroya. Guldor is now the headquarters of the Plague Acolytes, who turned the sterile grey waste into an overflowing cauldron of life and death. Reports of specialized deep strike troops of the Death Korps describe the fort as a factory for demons of Nurgle, surrounded by infected pools of raw biological material, nests of Plague Drones and worst of all ritual circles for what the Inquisition calls the ultimate heresy: Demonculaba, or the practice of turning humanoids into demonic wombs ready to burst with any horror from the abyss.Demographics
