Besi Galiasollei

Besi Galiasollei is easily the most highly-regarded and best-remembered Worthy in the history of Stolc.  After an intervention of Water Seekers failed to put a stop to the Twilight Chaos riots of 1642 Volcanic Era, Besi took action herself.  She founded and led the Cooperative Council, a group that established rules for the interactions between the city's day and night shifts.

For her actions in settling the Twilight Chaos and heading the Cooperative Council, Besi was given the Coroner's Star. She was the first non-hospital worker to earn the honor. The award fixed her valuation so high that she remained a Worthy the rest of her life, even after stepping down from her job as a street cleaner.

Motivation

Besi supported the night shift program, because having street cleaners working at night reduced the burden on the daytime workers. When the patrols started up, she witnessed some of their confrontations, and could easily see their plan was to cause trouble for the night shift. At the same time, occasionally they stopped actual trouble before it could become a situation bad enough for street cleaners. In speaking with them, she learned their motivation.

Because members of the day shift had limited interactions with the night shift, they had no influence on their valuations. They felt a helplessness over things happening in their city that they could do nothing about. The generation that made up the patrols had no experience of life without the night shift, leading her to the conclusion that they were influenced by the anxiety felt by their elders, and were ultimately driven by a desire to protect. By proposing a parallel night chapter of the patrol, Besi hoped to tap into that desire and turn it to a better purpose, and established the cross-hour as a way for both shifts to share talk and evaluate each other.
