A world where tons of people have superpowers like in the comic books sounds great, but things can be a lot more complicated than you would expect. The emergence of special abilities some thirty years ago led to many problems in society. However, by the time Evan Doyle was born, many of these issues had been resolved. Most people still don't have abilities. Only around forty percent of people in the world are born with powers, but that number continues to increase. Before she died, Evan's mother Emily was a great advocate for the rights of the Empowered, those who were born with or later developed special abilities. Now, Evan lives in Luceat, a bustling city that his mother helped found. His dream is to become a hero like his mother was, joining a league to help fight crime. Evan's biggest problem, though? He has no idea how to use the power he inherited from his mother. She died young, before his powers showed up, and she never had a chance to teach him how to use them. Now Evan struggles under the weight of peoples' expectations; his mother was the greatest hero the world had ever known, and before he can follow in her footsteps he's going to have to teach himself how to be super.
