Session 21: There Can Be Only One Mountain Lake

General Summary

The Danger Strangers returned to the Old Bonegrinder fane to take a better look at it, and soon found a way down into an ancient cave below the altar. They defeated the fane's guardian, then copied the inscription upon the wall by the altar. They had it translated during the night by the Keepers of the Feather, and as such found out how to consecrate the altar once again.

The Huntress roams these lands, strongest of all. Predator of predators, grant us your blessing as we prove our worth as companions in your eternal hunt. Acknowledge our strength, as we offer you the source of life of the strongest among you. What once beat in the chest of the mightiest predator, now once again returns to you, so that its blood may flow forevermore!

They set off towards the north, crossing Lake Zarovich. On the other bank of the lake, they spot a skeletal rider, which they decide to follow despite the storm brewing over the mountains to the north. They soon lose track of him, but come upon another track when they find a boot stuck in the mud on a riverbank. They pick up the trail and follow it further, finding an overgrown caravan, as well as a campsite that was the place of a fight. It is at this campsite too that they meet a group of lost souls, stranded in Barovia. They spend the night together, before continuing on the trail in the morning. After a few hours of tracking through the Svalich Woods on the bank of Mount Baratok, they come upon an old cottage, to which an old lady kindheartedly invites them.
