The Myriad Realms

Two thousand years ago, the Dark Lords - godlike rulers of a thousand worlds - decided to add Earth to their everlasting domain. Armies upon armies crossed the boundaries between the worlds, using powers that defied understanding. Hundreds of millions died during the first hours of invasion - and it was merely the beginning.   Eventually, Mankind triumphed. The Dark Lords were shattered and defeated, and the Multiversal Dominion of Mankind was established. Today, however, ever that is merely a memory of distant past. The thousand worlds of Man are in disarray, with very few still bending their knees to what used to be the Old Earth.   The colonies drift further and further away from each other, in biology, mentality, culture and religion. Alliances are made and wars are waged. The old system is breaking, and there are few who do not plan to take advantage of it. All while the beings, to whom the Dark Lords were merely servants, observe the events patiently. Awaiting their time.
