Emilie was born into relative wealth, from her mother's side. Much like her mother, Emilie never let her mixed heritage determine who she was going to be and established a "no bull shit" attitude early in her life.
When Emilie's mother died, she left both her daughters' a considerable fortune for their futures. Emilie used her wealth to further her father's business as a stable hand and buying her own herd of horses.
