The Bluebloods

The Bluebloods have been around for just as long as the red-blooded. The only real difference between the two ethnicities is that the Bluebloods were active during the night, and saw the moon as their goddess instead of the red-blooded who worshipped the sun. For many years they lived in harmony, even helping out keeping watch while the others were asleep. At this time the term red- and blueblood hadn't come around either, but instead, you asked someone if they were a worshipper of the sun or the moon. That changed when Artimus rose to power. Slowly he started spreading rumors about how the bluebloods weren't to be trusted. That they actually worshipped demons and other nightly beings, trying to summon them. It didn't convince people right away, but soon the bluebloods started to look more and more suspicious. Who willingly stays up all night, shielding themselves from the daylight, if not for some evil purpose. People started believing more and more and therefore saw more and more. The term Blueblood was created around this time, referring to the blue shine from the moon. Eventually, they were driven from the redblood societies.

Culture

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Every sunset the bluebloods welcome their mother, the moon, and pray for her safety during the journey along the sky. When the sun rises they thank her for the beautiful night she gave.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

When a new blueblood is born, the infant is taken up to the ritual platform, the closest place to the moon. There the family waits for the first clear night after the birth. How long this takes is taken as an omen for the child's life to come. It has happened more than once that a child who didn't get a clear night for a full month is sacrificed, to help the next child born and be spared of its own unhappiness that would follow.

Author's Notes

Hello! And thank you for reading my article!
This was made during the Summer Camp 2018 challenge. I won't be editing any of these to keep them for looking back on. That being said some I'm really not happy with, so I'll most likely put up an edited version at some point. If I do you will be able to find the link on the top of the page
