Lisa and Jack
Summary
Lisa and Jack is a well known story for children to learn about the isles. A young girl and her dog decide to explore the islands one by one using her uncles small sailboat. Lisa herself is often depicted as a curious child with long blond hair and a red raincoat. Jack is a yellow/brown and loyal dog. Along their travels they meet many new friends showing them how life differs between each island. In some versions Lisa also runs into adventures in between the islands.
Historical Basis
It is said that the original author modeled Lisa after his own daughter who had passed a few years before. Her dog was his neighbor’s, which often visited them while she was alive. The stories from the people Lisa meets the author collected on his own journeys.
Spread
The story is very well known across the continent, and Lisa and Jack are nowadays famous icons for the islands.
Variations & Mutation
From it’s many retellings, some things have changed about the story. While it’s hard to say exactly what since the original books are lost, one thing that’s often changed is the order she visits the islands. Some events in between the islands have both been added and taken away.
Cultural Reception
The islands quickly embraced the story as a way to show their culture to the continent. You can’t find a single islander who hasn’t at some point in their life read or been told the story, and most people know of it on the continent too.
In Literature
Many different versions of the story has been published over the year, and even more counting translations.
In Art
A few artists have depicted Lisa and Jack in paintings, and a statue was made for the largest island of the two in their boat.

Author's Notes
Hello! And thank you for reading my article!
This was made during the Summer Camp 2018 challenge. I won't be editing any of these to keep them for looking back on. That being said some I'm really not happy with, so I'll most likely put up an edited version at some point. If I do you will be able to find the link on the top of the page
