Late night writing

What was I thinking last night?!?
— Participator reading what he wrote the day before
There's a strange tradition amongst some writers. During the hottest days of the year, when the heat never dies and you can sit up a whole night wothout loosing the last light of the day, people gather to take part in late night writing. It's mostly done for fun, and as an excuse to hang out with friends and write on the ideas you've been to scared to put into words. Some groups, however, also include awards people can win for doing various things with their texts.
In the middle of the night it begins. Everyone who wants to take parts starts writing whatever comes to mind. Some people plan ahead what they're going to write about, others deliberatley don't think about the until the moment their pen hits the paper. They continue to write until they can't anymore, and fall asleep.
The day after is when the real fun begins. Everyone reads aloud what they wrote the night before, typos and all. Most texts are horrible, some start out okey only to completely loose the red thread, and others are plain weird. The point, however, is that none of the texts are perfect. They're barely first drafts, and yet many people mananged to express ideas they never dared to otherwise.
The late night writing is a chance for writers to come together, sit down, and let go of anything saying they're not good enough. Spending time with each other and turning what were once thoughts into words. Because when you're tired, everything seems like a good idea. And with a group of friends, your ramblings turn comedic.
