The Everburning Candelabra is a powerful artifact in the possession of the First Rays Temple in the city of Noperanis in southeastern Vesrae. A platinum candelabra of extremely skilled make, its five labra hold small white candles, one of which is always aflame at any given time. These candles do not have to be maintained or relit; the power of the Moonlady alone keeps any one of the candles eternally lit, as they have been for over several thousand years.

Artifact of the Moonlady

The Everburning Candelabra was believed to be created by the goddess Caran in the Before-Time, along with most other Godly Devices. It is rumoured that She took the the purest metal of world's oldest mountain and carefully crafted it piece by piece in order to have it be worthy of Her grace. While Caran is not the goddess of smiths, the sheer beauty of the Everburning Candelabra is a testament to the power of the gods of Dreandril.

An Accurate Record

The five labra of the Everburning Candelabra each match one of the five essential phases of the moon: new moon, crescent, half moon, gibbous, and full moon. As the cycles of the moon change from one phase to another, the light from the currently lit candle will dim, the next one will alight, and eventually only the candle corresponding to the new phase will be lit. This artifact, therefore, can be used as an extremely accurate timepiece, as the candelabra's candles can mark the passage of months or years with careful observation.

Harbinger of Light

Every century or so, the Moonlady blesses a humanoid in Her service with visions of the Everburning Candelabra. Those who heed the goddess's call and travel to Noperanis will be gladly welcomed into the secret inner sanctum of the temple, where they will anointed the Harbinger of Light, the goddess's chosen champion.
For the Harbinger of Light, the Everburning Candelabra will turn into any light source they require, whether that be a lantern, a torch, a singular candle or even a single undying spark. Only the Harbinger of Light can put out the Everburning Candelabra, although they obviously loathe to do so due to the terrible bad luck surrounding that act.
