The Hallowed Legion

The Hallowed Legion were the chosen soldiers of Antarhak that was. The pantheon of his homeland, Zandri, were a simple folk, their primary four deities were the Sun and the Moon, for these could be seen easily. Similarly, they worshipped Life and Death. The Legion was Hallowed, for they were the transitioners from Life to Death. As all things ended with Death, they worshipped their Death deity above all others. This deity was either devoured by Nagash, or was Nagash by a different name. Eventually, during the reign of Antarhak, a prophet came. This wandered spoke with the voice of Nagash, and taught the priesthood how to create eternal bodies of bone for the warriors. Furthermore, how to alter the souls of those who were put into these bodies to be superior warriors, removing the capacity for compassion and mercy from them.

The Hallowed Legion, on making this transition, became a force truly feared by the neighbors of Zandri. Antarhak himself bound his soul to not just his body, but his spear and every person slain by the weapon had their soul bonded to the weapon. The reach of Nagash spread through the expansion of Zandri, but eventually, the other kingdoms allied. They feinted a massive army being assembled, and Antarhak sent his forces to conquer them. The seven kingdoms destroyed Zandri while the army was away, and on returning home Antarhak found his own walls held against him. Antarhak and his Hallowed Legion were defeated, their bodies destroyed, and the artifacts buried. When Samhain freed the soul of Antarhak, the Hallowed Legion was swiftly reborn.

The bonded souls of Samhain and Antarhak agreed on a path to glory, and the means for this was the Hallowed Legion. They first created a boneshaper, who was able to begin creating the remainder of the forces. It was a slow process, but in the end the first cohort of the Legion was made. In seeking new bones to create more legionnaires, the Hallowed Legion came through the portal to the Lost Archipelago, and prepared to find more bones and more treasure, for the glory of lost Zandri.
