Crater Fever

Crater Fever, or red fever is a rare disease that mostly affects Broken Lands wardens, scavengers and Silent Guard. The disease is suspected to be related to the prolonged exposure to aura of Broken Lands and the Crater.
Symptoms:

• episodes of high fever with psychotic behaviour
• red fungus like skin lesions
• continuous deterioration of mental state, acceleration after fever episodes, affected person gets quiet, introvertive, feels a need to go back to Broken Lands

Around 20% of Silent Guard and other groups frequenting Broken Lands will contract this disease, it is not contagious.
This disease inescapably fatal, death occurs on average 2 years after first symptoms, with best possible treatment it can be prolonged to 3,5 years.
Crater Fever is so far incurable, either by magical or mundane means. The Royal Physicians Guild managed to develop treatments that can help with symptoms and prolong life. Removing the affected person also helps with symptoms.
