Volant Technology
The power to conquer the world
They swept from Erellar like the wind, descending upon Rotheria on ships that defied gravity, vehicles adorned with buzzing prismatic gems that carried whole fleets across the narrow seas and towering mountains. They had lived in their quiet solitude for thousands of years until the light promised them power and an answer to a question. The Elven Empire forged the light of the world and created Volant Technology. Aestharyte bonded with arcane energies that allowed for the levitation of great mass and the ability to glide on the air as easily as a ship on water. As they held the lands in their control the ability to fine tune volant crystals developed over time. Soon great railways were created spanning the continents. With Volant technology the world of Aestharya had entered a new age.Utility
Volant crystals are used in a variety of vehicles, from long roads built with crystal pillars that serve as railways, to the rare airships and even in propulsion for nautical vessels. Volant crystals in smaller froms can be used as concussive grenades, floating art pieces, stabilizers in mining operations and other myriad of ways limited to the imagination.
Manufacturing
The Process to create volant crystals is long and time consuming and is exponentially realated to the size of the crystal being imbued. The process requires refined Aeshtaryte and a master forgemage to complete. It can take up to a year to properly imbue a large volant crystal with enough power to propel an airship. The process by which they are created is a closley garded secret. Impure enchantments exist in the world and can be volitile and unpredictable.
Discovery
Volant Technology was discoverd by the Elven civilizations of Erellar. While the details of its discovery remain hidden in the past, legends say that the Elves invoked the spirit of Aestharya itself and gleaned the secrets to create volant crystals. Others legends tell that the dwarves, who have been on Aestharya the longest have always known and had no use until they sought the answer to a question, and in hearing it gave the power to the Elves in fear.
