It had been my parents Mal (Malory Jest) and Pal (Palitrous Jest) life's work to learn how to infuse themselves with magic. They cracked it but with a caveat, that they would only be able to infuse new life with the gem, so they did it to their kid, me, Phillipitrous Jest.
My parents wanted the best for me and were nice to me growing up and everything. My family employed me to keep honing my skills, to study my gem power to push their research forward. At 20 I was killing it, I had a hot girlfriend named Esmurel, my one true love. Hopelessly romantic and in love, we spent every day together, not a care in the world. Then everything changed when the (CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION) attacked.
They searched for the 'boy infused with magic'. My last sight of [HOMETOWN] was it in flames. My town burned because of me. I summoned a mighty storm, gaining the attention of the raiders and led them out of town. I was separated from Esmurel and my family. Bullheaded, a little nuts, and traumatized, I swore to never return, never seek out my family or my love Esmurel.
I fled down the river, and arrived nearly dead in Dastrow. I was holding onto a log nearly dead when I was saved by Seamour and started my life as a fisherman in Dastrow. I'd been living there since. That was four years ago.
