The Contradiction

The Muse of Scientists and the Persecuted

Divine Domains

The Contradiction, or Two-Faced Cat to some, is an embodiment of all things opposite, revolutionary, inexplicable, and scientific. They’re the groundbreaking theory that could shatter our worldview, the fearful heretic spreading contradictory theology, and the hypothetical conundrum that’s impossible to solve.

Artifacts

The Contradiction usually manifests its Vectors in scientific equipment. From tiny pipettes to specimen jars to entire centrifuges or even a small nuclear reactor that powered a submarine (that’s one story we can’t share yet), a great myriad of things can become connected to this Era. Most often, such Vectors are mental in nature, though especially powerful ones, like the MRI machine of ████ can create instances of Schrödinger’s Cat or Both Rock and Hard Place.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Contradiction is most often connected to cats, fossils, fishhooks, cadavers (the undamaged  and preserved sort, not like the Duty or the Remains), complicated mathematical equations, generic scientific ideas, and the act of burning at the stake. There is a not insignificant overlap between imagery associated with the Contradiction and that associated with the Fluctuation; specifically, fire and the loss of knowledge. This suggests a potential connection between the two, an idea which is enforced by the presence of preserved Stock Deer specimens within some controlled manifestations of the Academy of Discovery.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

The Contradiction is usually described as something with a cat’s general body shape and head, the wings of a bird in place of forelimbs, flippers for back limbs, a mane like fire, spinal fins and rough skin like a dinosaur on the back, and a bone tail that ends in a fishhook. They also often carry a quill-feather pen in their mouth.
