Wizards of the Court
The only country whose magical prowess truly challenges or potentially even exceeds is the land of Meadowdell. The traditional approach to magic is strong in The Queendom of Meadowdell, seeing many aspiring scholars travelling to the country in search of arcane knowledge. An early alliance with Ceolund along with a dogged ambition to become powerful lead to the founding of enriched wizardry schools funded by the government. Students of these schools are known as Wizards, and those who are selected by their peers and higher ups become Wizards of the Court.
A Wizard of the Court has two roles, the first is educational, they hold a position at the school or in the field, expanding their knowledge and training the next generation of wizards. The second is service to the lordship, as the Queen has a small committee of wizards she is able to consult and the each ruling lord may request an adviser from the Wizards of the Court.
The primier Wizardry school in Meadowdell is located in Knowlen.
Career
Qualifications
An aptitude for magic is a must to gain entry into the Wizardry school, along with tuition payments. Usually wizardry students require sponsors or support from their home towns if they are not being directly funded. Tuition may be waved for those of exceptional talent.
Career Progression
A Wizard's research and power are the measuring sticks of their progression. The great power and knowledge one holds, the greater their standing in the wizardry world. This leads to fierce competition, especially when an opening in the Court of Wizards opens up, as all of the wizards want to show their mettle and gain access to the position.
Payment & Reimbursement
Court Wizards are paid 4gp a day, covering a wealthy life style, but often they are able to pull much more money than that.
Other Benefits
Court Wizards gain access to libraries locked off from general studies as they've proven their loyalty in the magical arts.
