Marladon

The Master of Fire, Marladon is a Mortak. Kryoso is his lieutenant and steward. They grew up together near Myrs. When Marladon journeyed south to join the Potentate, Kryoso went with him. When Marladon became Fire Master, Kryoso stayed with him.
Marladon's Fire affinity is dangerous and awe-inspiring. He can only work Fire magic. Although he can do pattern magic and work with Fire forcelines directly, he has the ability to increase and decrease heat as he moves it. He can do so at 2 or 3 fold, squaring or cubing the numbers.
As a member of the Potentate, Marladon's strength was discovered. It is believed that his power was hidden as he grew up by the presence of lava dragons. When Cinder, the Fire Master died suddenly, Marladon was conscripted by the Forcelines. He never wanted to be a Master. Marladon had been spending time with Cinder prior to the elf's death and considered himself apprenticed to Cinder even though he was never officially named a Chosen One.
"You can take heat from us, perhaps enough to heat the metal?" Trillip finished. "I know your limits, Master. But I also know your specialty."
"Specialty?" D'Mique echoed.
"I can increase and decrease heat to an extent," Marladon explained.
"To such an extent that the metal would become pliable?" D'Mique asked, the implications sinking in as she spoke. The Fire Master nodded once eyeing her, judging her reaction. D'Mique met his silvery gaze, "We could bend it enough to get out," she concluded. Marladon nodded again, shifting to sit flat on the ground legs crossed. Using his finger he scratched in the dirt, mathematics from what D'Mique could tell.

Marladon's Math:
  • 3 degrees from D'Mique, squared = 9 degrees (98 to 95)
  • 9 degrees into Trillip, (98 to 107)
  • 12 degrees from Trillip, (107 to 95) and 2 degrees from himself (98 to 96), cubed = 2744 degrees into the iron. Iron begins melting at 2060 degrees.
