With the creation of the Arcane Schildkröte the entire outlook of military technology in the Known World has been rocked. First created by the
Rothenhiem workshops of Graf
August von Werder to be used in his conquest of
Jailenburg , the technology has been quickly sought after by almost all of the nobility and general in the Known World.
MOBILE FORTRESS
The Arcane Schildkröte, or mobile fortress, is a beautiful blend of arcane enchanting and military architecture that results in a small, mobile fort typically the has the same footprint of any normal tower. The base of the original Arcane Schildkröte was a massive stone tortoise which was animated to carry the rest of the tower on its back. Since then, all other copies of the mobile fortress have tended to use a stone animal totem as their bases and subsequent names. One example of this is the
Kraken Keep which slithers across the land on its stony tentacles while it patrols
Walfeste 's borders as a show of force.
As it is very expensive to commission the construction of an Arcane Schildkröte, as of this point in time only the truly powerful and wealthy settlements can afford to augment their defenses with such an armament. Though there is a rumor about a tinkerer around
King's Crown trying to use mechanical means of propulsion rather then the relatively more expensive magical enchantments as a motor. Though it seems highly improbable as the cost would be insurmountable for a common tinkerer to afford building an Arcane Schildkröte on their own.
