Introduction

The main continent is Therelden, home to The Apex and four of the great houses. To the north, the Winterset Isles are frozen wastelands home to House Grez. To the east across the narrow sea sits the sandy continent of Calidi. Calidi is vastly unexplored and uninhabited but The Great Houses of House Duncan and House Kleeck provide the only resemblance of civilization. The rest of the world has not been mapped and the year is 1699 P.A.

Over sixteen hundred years ago the world was very different, occupied by multiple empires constantly at war. The Blackness arrived at 995, spreading chaos, corruption and death. A year later The Prophecy foretold years ago came true, and The Heroes of Old formed, representing the best that all the races had to offer. While The Heroes of Old searched for an ancient power to aide them, the armies of the remaining empires fought to delay The Blackness.

The last survivor of the Heroes of Old, discovered some sort of massive power and destroyed The Blackness with it. He also healed the world from the corruption and reformed the planet to what it is now. On the remains of the City of Hastone, he created The Apex and then claimed the title of The Emperor. Since then he has reigned with an iron fist and with the segregation of the Servaa and Nobility, then the creation of The Ministry his grip has grown tighter every decade.
