Jacobian (ethnicity)
Both male and female Jacobians average 5'3" and have raven black hair. Almost all Jacobians haves steel grey eyes. Those who has different eye colors are often shunned and sometimes a family will abandon a child for no other reason then this difference. Jacobians are born with pale skin, but tan quickly, leading to a tan complexion of their often exposed upper bodies.

Major language groups and dialects
All Jacobians speak Jacobian (Language), which is a very rigid language. This rigidity results in fairly uniform spelling and pronunciation throughout the continent.
Shared customary codes and values
The ideals of Family and battle readiness are shared by most, if not all Jacobians. Fairness in combat is a prevalent ideal. For instance, a Jacobian general will not permit the use of range weapons unless their force is attacking or defending a castle or other fortified location. If a group using unwarranted range weapons, any offending members will have their fingers and thumbs removed. In general they are xenophobic isolationists.
Many dishonourable actions are punishable with the digit removal method. If a Jacobian who has lost fingers wishes to redeem themselves before death, they can undergo a procedure that would see 2 patas permanently fixed to their arms. 2 bolts are punched through the lower arm; 1 just above the wrist and 1 not far from the elbow. The bolts are then heated to cauterize the wounds before the patas are forge welded to them.
Average technological level
Jacobians have mastery over advanced forging, mining, and agricultural capabilities. They use a crop rotation cycle with special forms of grain so that similar crops can be grown year after year. Some of the mines that were captured from the dwarves contain reciprocating steam engines set to drive pumps that remove water from the mines. Though they can keep them running, the Jacobians do not truly understand how they work. Using volcanically heated forges, Jacobian smiths can completely melt almost any metal, and by building a fast acting pulley system that can take steels to low temperature peaks for tempering.
Common Dress code
Both men and women wear trousers and tunics. Having as much bare skin for tanning as possible is a sought after thing. It is not uncommon to see both men and women working and training with nothing but their trousers.
Men will generally grow beards and have their wife weave it in a pattern of braids and knots. A cleanly shaven Jacobian man is either not looking for a wife or recently lost a wife. Women also participate in this weaving tradition, but as they do not have beards they do it to their hair instead. A woman with short hair has recently lost a husband and one with short hair is not looking to marry.
Art & Architecture
The only form of art that is recognized in Jacobia (Continent) is Ro Darae Chee-Oq (The Way of the Sword). Intricate sword patterns and choreographed duels are preformed in the place of music and plays. Stories of past battles are common, but more for tactics lessons than enjoyment.
Jacobian buildings are usually make of stone and mud/straw bricks. Timber is a scarce commodity in jacobia and as such is not used very often in buildings. Jacobia sits on an active fault line and experiences frequent earthquakes of varying magnitudes. Because of this, their buildings are always either very sturdy or very easy to put back together.
Coming of Age Rites
At the age of 15, all Jacobians are to make a Cheeoq-tel (meaning sword of life). This cermony is called a Forging.
Funerary and Memorial customs
After a Jacobian dies, their body is transported to the field of their successor and used as a fertilizer for crops to e grown there. Only the bodies of important Jacobians are collected in any battle that included more than 1000 soldiers. Grain seeds are scattered across the remaining dead and is allowed to grow.
Common Taboos
Homosexuality and what is known as Xenophilia (being attracted to non-humans) are taboo in Jacobia (Continent). Though not technically illegal, Jacobians exhibiting these traits are ostracized and often disowned if not outright killed.

Beauty Ideals
Impressive musculature is a desirable trait in both men and women. Skin Tanning as a result of farming or training in high sun conditions is seen as a mark of productivity and tenacity.
The sighting of any skin below the waist on men or women is seen as scandalous outside of marriage of a Welding.
Gender Ideals
Both males and females are considered completely equal in all regards of rights and laws.
Courtship Ideals
A couple considering a Welding is expected to spend time engaging each other in combat and just spending time together in general, whether it be alone or with friends and family. The families influence in partner choice varies from family to family. In higher class families, advantageous marriages are preferred, but the only way a family can actually influence the choice is by defeating both members of the couple at their Welding with a single champion, who is required to be the head of the house.
Intimacy between the couple is a very touchy subject. Actual intercourse is forbidden by unspoken law, but there are no clear restrictions on things like kissing and cuddling. Washing one another's upper bodies after rounds of sparing is considered to far by some families and in some regions, but not all of them.

Heterosexuality is seen as the only socially acceptable sexuality.
