Mechanics & Inner Workings
On the top and left sides of the shield are 3 holes, one on top and 2 on the left. Into these holes, pins can be inserted by adjacent shields. The pins are on the opposite sides from the holes and face towards the wielder. Near the pins are sliding bolts to hold the pins in place.

One of these sheilds is issued to every Jacobian (Ethnicity) soldier along with an Infantry Sword. Some Jacobians use these shields in single combat, but it's use is far more prevalent in large scale combat.
