Youth Day Faire!

Youth Day is a holiday originating in the Kingdom of Mourne, where for one day every year, the the cities youth are celebrated and exhalted in a grandiose attempt to combat low morale and inspire the children of the kingdom to yearn for greater things, born by royal decree of Tyrus the first.   Every year, at a day of the King's choosing, parents and caretakers escort their children to the center of the city where rides and games, however silly, have been constructed and are manned by the city guard to the excitment of the many, many young ones that attend. A fair of sorts and shoddy in design, the Youth Day Celebration is a festive collection of activities found by the King's servants intended to give the attending children life lasting memories and their hard working parents a moment of brief respite. It is the greatest event in the economic life of Mourne. During this time merchants from all over Liore gather in the city to buy or sell wares and exchange gossip.   This consists of:   1. A petting zoo of sorts comprised of sickly/handicapped farm animals. 2. A row of Gnomish wooden contraptions resembling a large stool next to a crudely painted target standing over a large barrel of water and a table covered with hard stones. City guards wearing swimming caps sit atop these stools and await their wet fate, and a line of wooden buckets filled with apples floating in well water are awaiting the bobbing to begin. 3. A "Freaky Fae Show" where stands have been hastily constructed by orcish slavehands to support a performance of show and tell. A motley assortment of fae have been collared and placed on display for Mournish children to gawk and laugh at to their hearts content. 4. A puppet show based on the founding of the Kingdom of Mourne by Tyrus the first, the founding King of Mourne. 5. The royal minstrels have prepared a lovely uplifting composition and have set themselves upon a set of raised makeshift stands. As they begin to play the townspeople form a great circle and one by one the children leap into the center and grabbing eachothers hands begin to playfully dance about in a formation of circles running counter clockwise to eachother. Flower baskets are distributed to the towns people by the city guard and the children are showered with raining flower petals as they laugh and play. 6. A feast has been planned and prepared in honor of the youth of the city. The Shrines of the eight have been decorated and adorned with flowers and paper lanterns. An array of wooden tables have been placed out amongst the holy statues of the eight, adorned with a multidue of vegetables and fruits as well as various cooked meats freshly caught on a recent hunting trip. A swaddle of city guard dressed in beige stained aprons await the children prepared to be their servers.
