The Cleansing Storm

The nomadic tribes that live out in the desert follow various Kama'at spiritual leaders. The most common are the Dune people who's spiritual leaders follow the Balance of Sand. They believe in the natural balance of life and death within the Great Sand Sea. There is however an ancient sect that broke away from the Balance of Sand. They are the Cleansing Storm. The Cleansing storm worship the sandstorms that form over the great sand sea. They believe it is a sign of punishment or pennance for the desert nations.
While small in number compared to the dune people, the cleansing storm's Kama'at are rumored to have powers to manifest and control sandstorms. That has cause for concern for the Kingdom of Khemit and for the Dune people. there are several tribes that have lost members, converting to cleansing storm. The Kingdom has had peace with the various tribes, but the cleansing storm's actions has many tribal elders weary of any of the tribes that come by.

Culture

The Kama'at have always believed that their Ka is tied to the land and thus need to seek balance to maintain the ecology. The Cleansing Storm Kama'at have changed their beliefs in that their connection is not to seek balance, but to wield the desert like a weapon and bring down the neighboring nations. This twist in their Ka gives them control over the sands and storms, even becomming sand themselves as they fight.

Public Agenda

Their lecture is that it is man that broke the balance of the world and the sand storm will scour his existance from it to right the balance. They follow the storms into the black lands, raiding villages and destroying homesteads and temples.

History

The Cleansing Storm is said to have travelled deep into the great sand sea after trying to avoid a huge sand storm. They found shelter in some rock formation. The storm lasted two weeks and as the tribe searched the shelter for food and water, they found something that caused the leaders to go mad. The tribe didn't wait for the storm to subside before leaving. When they finally found their way back to an oasis, their Kama'at was blinded by the sand and given new sight by the storm.
